Abstract

The Front Cover shows the combination of an electron transfer mediated anode for [(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-piperidin-1-yl)oxyl] (TEMPO)-catalysed benzylamine oxidation to valuable chemicals and proton-coupled electron transfer process at the cathode for hydrogen generation from water. The difference in pH dependence of the anodic and cathodic processes enables hybrid water electrolysis at low cell potential (∼1.0 V) by adjusting only the pH value of the electrolytic medium. Product selectivity and rate of the anodic reaction can also be controlled by adjusting the pH, keeping the amount of hydrogen production unaffected.
