Abstract

The Front Cover shows an overview of recent advances in MOF-based materials for photocatalytic nitrogen fixation in aqueous media. Solar-driven photocatalytic nitrogen fixation is a low-energy and environmentally friendly strategy for NH3 synthesis, which represents a future direction for the Haber-Bosch process. Considering the extremely high bond energy of N2, the choice of photocatalysts is essential for the nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR). As a class of porous materials with high crystallinity and adjustable organic ligands, MOFs have been proven to exhibit high photocatalytic activity for a wide range of reactions. Compared to other photocatalytic fields, photocatalytic NRR with MOFs is relatively less frequently addressed. With this Minireview, we hope to provide insights into the design and exploration of novel nitrogen-fixing photocatalysts based on MOF materials. More information can be found in the Minireview by L. Mei, W. Shi and co-workers.
