Abstract

The front cover picture illustrates that starting from the tetrahedron as a source, a road splits into two. On the left side of the road, alpha-amino acid derived from methane is passing. On the right side of the road, amino acid containing the adamantane core derived from adamantane is passing. Hoping that optically active amino acids containing the adamantane core are useful as large analogs of alpha-amino acids, their preparation by an enantioselective desymmetrization of 1,3-disubstituted adamantane derivatives via rhodium-catalyzed C–H bond amination was examined.
