Abstract

The cover picture shows the crystal packing of a palladium complex of a carbazole-based chalcogenaisophlorin. Metalation planarizes the structure, inducing weak near infrared (NIR) absorption typical for antiaromatic porphyrinoids in solution. The sulfur- and selenium-based complexes formed trimeric and dimeric stacked layered structures, respectively, and showed relatively strong NIR absorption in the solid state.
