Abstract

Laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (LDI MS)-based metabolic analysis holds great potential for clinical applications in terms of high throughput, rapid signal readout, and minimal sample preparation. Herein, various categories of nanomaterials and their diagnostic applications for detecting metabolites in biological fluids by LDI MS are summarized. In the outlook section, some of the challenges that should be addressed to further advance the field are specified. More information can be found in the Review by Jingjing Wan et al.
