Abstract

The Front Cover shows a new series of trinuclear Fe−Ru−Fe mixed-valence compounds obtained by changing the electron-donating ability of the remote substituents (R) of the ligand on the bridging metal center. The “person” (which symbolizes the electron) in the picture has to climb up different heights to reach the next corresponding step, which denotes the metal-to-metal charge transfer (MMCT) energy barriers from Ru2+ to Fe3+ in this family of compounds. As the electron-donating ability of the remote substituents decreases, it becomes more and more difficult for the “person” to reach the corresponding step, which means higher energy barriers need to be overcome for MMCT. The cover was designed by Bing-Chang Tan (the first author). More information can be found in the Research Article by T.-L. Sheng and co-workers.
