Abstract

The Front Cover shows the release of plasmid DNA to the cytoplasm from a core-shell nanoparticle (CSNP) consisting of a condensed nucleic acid core with protamine sulfate and a polymeric shell that is chemically tuned for facilitated escape from the mildly acidic endosome due to its varying protonation, acid-degradability, and membrane disruption capabilities. The transnuclear transport of the plasmid DNA is aided by protamine sulfate enabling efficient expression of the genetic payload. Cover design by Tae Won Yoon.
