Abstract

I like the SEG SmartBrief e-mail newsletters I receive. I quickly check them for items of interest. I am going to have to do one of two things: stop reading the SmartBriefs or stop writing about them in this column. It is an either-or choice. But using them in this column is addictive. Thus, consider the item from the 7 April 2017 SEG SmartBrief regarding an air survey searching for mineral deposits in India, which stated the following: “The aircraft, which will map the region for a month and a half starting this week, will record minerals such as manganese, copper and lead as deep as 20 kilometers below the earth.” Maybe they meant meters rather than kilometers … sigh. (Editor's note: Those interested can sign up for the SEG SmartBrief e-newsletter by visiting seg.org/smartbrief .)
