Abstract
In the presented article the innovative activity of the doctor of medical sciences, the professor, the head of the chair of ophthalmology of the Chernivtsi medical institute Boris Leonidovich Radzikhovskiy - the inventor known in Ukraine and the USSR in the field of ophthalmology is analyzed. Despite the large number of historiographical materials devoted to the life and work of the professor, the authors of the article set the goal - to describe the less explored pages of his activity - invention and rationalization. The urgency of the research is dictated by the approach of the 75th anniversary of the Bukovina Medical University and the need for a future physician to develop a creative approach to the curative case. The methodology of work is based on the analysis of archival, bibliographic materials, memoir literature. Particular attention was paid to those inventions that were registered by the Committee for Inventions anddiscoveries under the Council of Ministers of the USSR. In the field of view of the researchers were such inventions as a protezidicator, eye tonometers of different designs, blepharostat, gonioscope, algezimeters and trephines of different designs, ophthalmopericheskop, binocular loupe, perimeter, conoidoscope, dynamorefractor, etc. Among the new methods of research, innovations and rationalization proposals B . Radzikhovsky described the scotometric and reflex-light samples, the innovative use of ethonium, trepanoyridenklase, an improved needle holder, cryoextractor with controlled temperature, extraction of senile cataract with a bag, a new methodophthalmoscopy in its direct form, a new concept for the development of presbyopia, a new clinical method for selecting presbyopic glasses, a new tweezers design, a new operation for relapsing the pterygium, a proxyimeter, etc. Conclusions. Research and Innovation Activities Radzikhovsky in the field of ophthalmology brought him to the level of a scientist with an all-Union name. He published in the most prestigious publications, his monographs were published in thousands of copies, inventions were issued in mass production at the all-Union level and were implemented in the clinics of Chernivtsi, Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Kiev, Ternopil, Yerevan, Tashkent Medical Institute, the Helmholtz Institute of Eye Diseases and the Institute of Vitaminology ), in the institutes of Leningrad. The scientist was a member of the board of the All-Union and All-Ukrainian Scientific Societies of Ophthalmologists, chairman of the Chernivtsi Oblast Ophthalmologists' Society, awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, medals, and became a well-known scientist of Ukraine. Nowadays references to his monographs can be found in dissertations from ophthalmology, in medical encyclopedias, in textbooks for students of medical universities, in scientific works.
