Abstract

It is indeed an honor to have been selected as the new editor-in-chief of Manufacturing & Service Operations Management. I look forward to my term of duty, and I am pleased to describe my plans for the journal. However, before doing so, I would first like to personally thank founding and outgoing Editor-in-Chief Leroy B. Schwarz for the superb job he has done in launching this journal. In the last four years, M&SOM has blossomed from a nonentity into the leading specialized journal in the field of operations management (OM). This is largely due to Lee's efforts and vision. We all owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude for this accomplishment. As incoming editor, I am especially indebted to Lee for the excellent reputation and goodwill he has generated for the journal. His will certainly be a tough act to follow. Like Lee, I truly believe the continued success of M&SOM is critical for our field. This is why I accepted the position of editor and why I am committed to making the journal an even greater success in the future. This task will no doubt require adjustments and revisions as time progresses. However, let me described my assessment of where the journal stands currently and my strategies and policies going forward.
