Abstract

Members and subscribers to the Journal will be inundated this month as the June, July and August issues all arrive by months' end. The decision to move to a system requiring payment of page charges or the receipt of a properly executed purchase order prior to publication was somewhat reluctantly implemented in March, and with it the time period between mailing of page proofs and the assembling of an actual issue has more than doubled. Issues may be both smaller and late in mailing for several more months before a backlog of prepaid articles can be built up and a more or less normal schedule can be resumed. However, the delays and the added work in the editorial office will be worthwhile if the increased rate of publication charge collections ultimately leads to a reduction in the page charge rate.Another move in this direction is the completion of a media kit and mailings announcing that the Journal is now accepting advertisements.
