Abstract

Greetings to all! Team IJKD has great pleasure in presenting the second issue of IJKD to the scientific world. We embarked on this great journey with trepidation in our hearts as we released the first issue of IJKD in the month of April 2022. We humbly acknowledge the encouragement and support from our Nephrology colleagues in the country and beyond. In this issue, we have begun a new feature-a series on Research Methodology and another on Teaching cases in Peritoneal Dialysis (PD). There is a need for a clear understanding of the research methods for good interpretation and critical analysis of the scientific articles. I commend Dr Nivedita Kamath and her co-authors for contributing a clear and concise article on ‘Study Design’, the first article in this series, which will surely be a boon to the postgraduate students. Another series of articles has been planned by Dr Rajeevalochana and her co-authors on problems in PD. In the first article which is presented in this issue, the authors discuss about the mechanical problems with PD and present an elaborate literature review, which is interesting and proves to be a useful source for PD -related information. This issue also has two articles on COVID-19 related issues. In their article, Dr Raja Ramachandran and colleagues present a systematic review of IgA Nephropathy and Ig A vasculitis related to COVID vaccines, and describe the findings in their own patient in detail. The team from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, in their case report, presents a rare presentation of systemic vasculitis presenting three months after recovery from COVID19, in a patient with End stage kidney disease undergoing haemodialysis. There are three other articles- one on childhood nephrotic syndrome, another on thrombosis in Membranous nephropathy and another on an uncommon complication during central venous cannulation. My gratitude to all contributors and the reviewers who made this issue possible. We, in the editorial board, appreciate the magnitude of our job and the responsibility we bear in the growth of this journal. Efforts are on to augment the visibility and reach of the journal. There is also a greater need to make the publication process more streamlined. We are going forward step -by - step and in this context, it is worth remembering the American poet H W Longfellow's words We have not wings, we cannot soar; But we have feet to scale and climb By slow degrees, by more and more, The cloudy summits of our time. For as Martin Luther King, Jr said, 'You don't have to see the whole staircase; just take the first step'. With warm regards,
