Review of Progress in Coloration and Related TopicsVolume 32, Issue 1 p. 138-142 From test-tubes to 3D fluorescence spectra† Ágnes Tímár-Balázsy, Ágnes Tímár-Balázsy Dr Ágnes Timar-Balázsy (14 February 1948–22 March 2001) was head of the Faculty for Object Conservation at the Hungarian National Museum/Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts. Her doctoral thesis focussed on the analysis of dyestuffs found in historic textiles. Renowned as a teacher of textile conservation science, she taught at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Art (on ICCROM's ‘Scientific Principles in Conservation’ courses) the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Textile Conservation Centre. With Dinah Eastop of the Textile Conservation Centre, Dr Ágnes Timar-Balázsy co-authored Chemical Principles of Textile Conservation (1988 and reprinted 1989; Butterworth-Heinemann Conservation & Museology series). She was coordinator of the Textiles Working Group of the International Council of Museums' Conservation Committee (1990–1996), a member of the Board of the ICOM Conservation Committee, and vice-president of ICCROM's Council.
