Abstract

The National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC) is bracing for the next phase of its second accelerator project, Taiwan Photon Source (TPS), once the civil construction is completed in 2013, marking a successful example of having dual adjacent rings, with one under construction while the other is in operation. The transformation of the synchrotron-based light source by adding the TPS to the existing Taiwan Light Source (TLS) has the mission of providing Taiwan's scientific community and high-tech industry with needed facilities and resources for them to stay ahead in technological competition, using brilliant synchrotron light sources from infrared, VUV, and soft X-ray to hard X-ray.
