Abstract
Most research on the Kmhmu tends to concentrate on their ethnonym, kinship system, language, folkways, and customs of marriage, family, and religion. The recent cultural transformation and adaptation, the state's intervention, and its impacts on the life of the Kmhmu still remain unknown or are not fully recognized by researchers. This article examines the sedentarization policies and development programs that were applied in the Kmhmu villages, assessing their response to those policies and the changing patterns of life among the Kmhmu in Vietnam.
