Abstract

A frequency reconfigurable antenna with two PIN diode switch is presented in this paper. On different states of PIN diode, the antenna is able to operate at different modes of single band, dual band and triple band with different operating frequencies of 691 MHz-801 MHz, 2.46 GHz-2.92 GHz, 2.62 GHz-6 GHz, 3.75GHz-5.83 GHz, 5.22-5.74GHz, and 6.22 GHz-7.61 GHz. These bands cover many operating frequencies of modern communication technologies such as LTE, LTE-A, Wi-Fi, as well as 5G below 10 GHz. Based on double-ring structure, the proposed antenna gets a compact size of 30*30*1.6 mm3 which is about 76% reduction compared to a conventional ring antenna at 750 MHz. All details of the antenna structure are optimized and analyzed by CST software and the simulated results agree well with the measured results.
