Abstract
Abstract The gender pay gap, a global issue, reflects the persistent inequality between men and women in the workforce. India, despite progress in various aspects, still grapples with significant disparities in earnings between genders. This article explores the multifaceted nature of the gender pay gap in India, examining its causes and potential solutions. It also highlights India’s achievements in narrowing the gap in fields such as health care, education, and creative industries. Government initiatives and policies, like the Gender Budget, play a crucial role in addressing this issue, but challenges like unconscious biases and occupational segregation remain. While India has taken the first few steps toward gender pay parity, there is much work to be done to ensure equal opportunities and compensation for all.
