Click to increase image sizeClick to decrease image size Additional informationNotes on contributorsCristian BarnaDr. Cristian Barna, Associate Professor at the “Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy, Bucharest, Romania, is head of its Department of Political Science and International Relations. He is also Visiting Professor in the Faculty of Sociology at the University of Bucharest. A former intelligence practitioner with a Ph.D. in Sociology, Dr. Barna's principal areas of expertise are applied sociology, intelligence and security studies, geopolitics, security organizations, organized crime, and terrorism. He is the author of several books, including Al-Qaida vs. the World: After 10 Years (2011); Terrorism, the Final Solution?: The Rise and Fall of Al-Qaida (2010); and The Crusade of Islam (2007). Among his many articles and studies is “The Role of Intelligence in Combating Islamic Radicalization in Europe: A Study Case: Romania,” presented at the 2011 International Conference on Academic Intelligence and Security Studies in Bucharest.
