Abstract

Some industries find problems in recruiting young people as blue collar workers due to bad physical environment and monotonous jobs. It is therefore important to design work environment and work organization in a way that is satisfying to the operators. Designing good conditions is a job that must be carried out in cooperation between technologists and psychologists as technical factors of the work affect psychological experiences of the total work situation. A system for how to put human and technical objectives into practice is likewise important. A system of this kind is related and examples are given from Swedish steelindustry.
