Abstract
The rich tradition of Indian classical sculpture and religious representational art is based on the visualisation priniciples laid down in ancient texts. The paper discusses the procedure of form creation and formal visualisation of the formless, the invisible, and the unmanifest, as given in Vastusutra Upanishad, one such ancient text; and discusses the effectiveness of this procedure as a means of creating meaningful symbolic form in non-religious context and applications also.
