Abstract

Abstract This chapter discusses an ethical appraisal of the use of veterinary treatments to improve physical disabilities in companion animals, using the ethical matrix, a decision support framework. The ethical dilemma of the application of prostheses in dogs and cats, and the benefits of prostheses in improving the welfare and quality of life of affected dogs and cats are highlighted.
