Abstract

Abstract In all of this chapter, k will be an algebraic closure of the finite field with p elements, where p 0 is a prime number. We shall consider affine varieties and algebraic groups over k which are defined by polynomials with coefficients in the finite field 𝔽q ⊆k (where q is a power of p). For example, this is the case for all the classical groups that we considered in Chapter 1.
