Abstract

This volume fills a gap in the philosopher's corpus by presenting the entire German text of Nietzsche's lectures on rhetoric and language, his notes for them, and facing-page English translations. Previously unavailable or existing only in fragmentary form, the lectures represent a major portion of Nietzsche's achievement. The book also contains an extensive editor's introduction covering the background of Nietzsche's understanding of rhetoric, and critical notes identifying his sources and independent contributions.
