Abstract
AbstractBromodifluoro(phenylsulfanyl)methane undergoes a Friedel–Crafts‐type alkylation, through α‐fluorocarbocations, with activated aromatic compounds yielding thioesters and/or benzophenones. The methodology has been applied to the synthesis of naturally occurring xanthone derivatives.
