Abstract

This work gives a reasonable exploration of the mechanism of the frictional contact and stick-slip phenomenon in multi-scale mechanic view. Specifically, the authors classify the frictional contact to the fundamental interactions and investigate the micro-mechanism of the stick-slip phenomenon which provides a scientific and advanced comprehension to these problems. We show the possible causes of the healing mechanism in the stick-slip motion from two combined effects: (i) the hardening effect caused by the dislocation entanglement and (ii) the restoration of the existed dislocation plane. The feasible numerical technology is proposed based on these advanced views. Novel nonlinear friction law is proposed to deal with the tangential friction contact in the interface. The average crystal distance is defined to analyze and to reproduce the stick-slip motion. The numerical results show the feasible of the proposed technology.
