Abstract

An analytical model has been developed to find the distribution of heat between a vertical stationary cylindrical pin and a rotating disc. This model covers a wide field of practical applications. The conduction of heat from the sliding contact zone in the axial direction of the pin and the radial direction of the disc, as well as the heat convection from the sides and periphery of the disc and from the side of the pin are taken into account. The heat conduction problem has been solved for both the rotating disc and the stationary pin, the average temperature over the contact area has been determined and the heat distribution between them has been obtained by matching the average temperatures. Graphs are included to facilitate the numerical calculations and to illustrate the results obtained.
