Abstract

This mathematical friction and wear model is based on a concept of microgeometry of contacting surfaces of friction pairs assuming a sufficiently hard journal, an ideally plastic soft bush, flow of lubricant in the “porous” space between rubbing surfaces, and the theory of fracture of metals caused by plastic deformation near microirregularities. The authors give a complete system of relations, their solution algorithms and results of test calculations made by corresponding programs. The mathematical model and its software product can serve as an integral part of a computer-aided design of sliding bearings.
