Abstract

The friction and wear analysis was done while using TiO2 as an additive to the Sal oil. The TiO2 nanopowder were added to the Sal oil in different concentrations i.e. 0.25%, 0.55%, 0.85% and 1.15%. Reduction in coefficient of friction with 0.55% addition of the TiO2 nanoparticles was observed. The addition of TiO2 particles with Sal oil results in less wear of the surface. The Wear scar diameter was also less observed with addition of TiO2 particles to the Sal oil. More friction and wear was attained during the addition of TiO2 particles after a limit of 0.55%.
