Abstract
Koto Panjang Reservoir is an artificial lake that, besides being utilized for electricity power or irrigation, is also utilized by the fishery sector. This paper describes the fish diversity, fishery activities, and potential yield of Koto Panjang Reservoir in Riau Province. Eight enumerators collected the primary data to record the total weight (kg) of catches and the number of fishing gear (unit) usage. The secondary data was obtained by literature search and relevant study results from related agencies. The potential fish yield of the reservoir was estimated by using the Morpho-Edaphic Index (MEI) model. The results showed that 29 species inhabited in Koto Panjang Reservoir with the potential fish production of about 222.32 kg/ha/year. Policy implementation can be implemented by restricting fisher and fishing gears numbers.
