Abstract

• Levodopa‐Carbidopa Intestinal Gel infusion (LCIG) in advanced stages of Parkinson's Disease is proven to significantly reduce motor fluctuations and dyskinesia compared to oral levodopa. • It is a very complex therapy requiring a lot of effort from the healthcare staff and a close collaboration between neurologists and gastroenterologists. • Complications with the procedure and with the device are common, presenting in more than 60% of patients. • A lot of complications will be solved improving the devices used for the endoscopic procedures, the better maintenance of the skin around the stoma and greater interaction among patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals.
