Abstract

In order to improve the accuracy of ranging algorithm for millimeter wave linear frequency modulated continuous wave (LFMCW) radar, The modified Rife algorithm (M-Rife) is investigated in this paper. To decrease the error results from low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), a frequency estimation algorithm based on the fast Fourier transform (FFT) coefficient is proposed. The FFT coefficient is used to decide the frequency shift direction. Simulation results show that the method based on FFT coefficient has higher estimation precision on the measured frequency band and better performance in the case of low SNR.
