Abstract
In order to eliminate inter-symbol interference (ISI) in multi-h continuous phase modulation (CPM) systems due to the existence of multi-path in communications, frequency domain equalization (FDE) using a cyclic prefix (CP) is often used. However, to improve the synchronization and channel estimation, leveraging a training sequence of known symbols instead of a CP for multi-h CPM-FDE is more practical. In this letter, a new symbol block using the training sequence (TS) for multi-h CPM-FDE system is designed. In the conditions of ideal channel estimation and synchronization, the bit error rate (BER) performance of multi-h CPM-FDE using the proposed symbol block is simulated, and the results over the multi-path fading channel show that the difference in the BER between TS and CP is limited.
