Abstract

An allpass-based diffuse reverberator with explicit control of reverberation time vs frequency is derived from a simple physical model. The resulting equations are closely related to the well-known equations given by Sabine and Eyring for real rooms. In addition only a single complex filter is required for the implementation of arbitrary frequency characteristics, making this type of reverberator an efficient component in real-time applications such as auditory virtual environments.
