Abstract

K0.5Na0.5 NbO3 + 1 wt% ZnO (KNNZ) were synthesized by using the solid-state method. Different amounts of TiO2 as a sintered aid were added to KNNZ ceramics and sintered at 1000 °C for 2 h. The effect of sintering aids (ZnO and TiO2) on the electrical and impedance properties of KNNZ ceramics were investigated. It was found that there is a formation orthorhombic phase for all the prepared samples. Lattice parameters and cell volume obtained from XRD patterns showed the incorporation of Ti substitution into the KNNZ crystal structure. The dielectric constant was found to increase with TiO2. Ac conductivity varying with frequency was found to be increased with the addition of TiO2 which indicated the presence of a more hopping mechanism. The impedance analysis confirmed that the incorporation of sintering aids ZnO and TiO2 can improve the conductivity which can be related to the improvement in piezoelectric properties of the KNN ceramics.
