Abstract

Summary form only given. Four-wave mixing in optical fibers is an important nonlinear process which has a profound effect on optical communications. The mixing may cause some cross-talk problems in a wavelength-division-multiplexing system. On the other hand, the mixing process is useful for frequency conversion. In this paper, we calculate the frequency conversion efficiency and discuss some related issues. >
