Abstract
This paper reviews the basic properties of tunable pulsed BBO-OPOs. The different techniques used to obtain narrowband operation are discussed. The principle of injection seeding is explained and experimental and numerical investigations with a short-cavity OPO are presented. The spectral and output characteristics of a pulsed single-mode OPO system are reported which is tunable over the range 420 - 4000 nm.
