Abstract

In this study, a sine adapted improved whale optimisation algorithm (SiWOA) is proposed where sine function is incorporated in the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) for the choice of algorithm parameter and scaling factors are engaged in WOA technique to adjust the travel of search agents in the search procedure. The performance of SiWOA is analysed by testing on benchmark functions and equated with similar methods. Then frequency control of distributed power system (DPS) is performed by designing an Adaptive Fuzzy PID (AFPID) controller employing the proposed SiWOA technique. It is demonstrated that SiWOA technique outperforms the WOA technique in controller design problem. It is noticed that SiWOA tuned AFPID controller is more active in controlling the frequency relative to PID. Lastly, the outcomes of AFPID controller is equated with PID controller under different serious uncertain scenarios to demonstrate the advantage of the suggested frequency control approach.
