Abstract

Under the new situation of rapid development of wind power and profound changes in power supply structure, different wind power permeability in the power grid will bring a lot of uncertainties to the operation of the power system. It will challenge the safe and stable operation of the power system, including frequency stability and voltage stability. This paper mainly discusses the effects on the frequency and voltage stability of power system, caused by different wind power permeability. Based on the modeling of doubly-fed induction generator and PSASP software, this paper simulates the frequency and voltage characteristics of the system under different wind power permeability after the faults of power system. The simulations result shows that when suffering from the faults of power system, the frequency and voltage characteristics of the wind power system are worse than the pure synchronous generator system. In severe faults occasions, low voltage level may cause the start of the low voltage protection in wind power generator, which will limit the output of active power and therefore lead to frequency collapse. Therefore, it is necessary to study a more reasonable load shedding method to quickly restore the frequency and bus voltage level of system under different wind power permeability.
