Abstract

An eigenfrequency comparison of an “extremely” clamped curved panel mathematical model vs. an aircraft-type clamped curved panel experimental model is conducted. Solutions to the equations of motion include the double-finite Fourier transform method, the Rayleigh-Ritz method, and the Rayleigh method. Results agree very well except for the fundamental frequency. A mathematical model with relaxed in-plane restraint along the generator is posed and is found to give good agreement for the fundamental eigenfrequencies of aircraft-type clamped curved panels with appropriate values of the spring constant ratio.
