Frequencies of intermolecular vibrations in electronically excited dimers and charge-transfer complexes in solids

Abstract

Theoretical arguments are presented indicating that the intermolecular translational frequency in solid-state charge-transfer complexes and dimers decreases upon electronic excitation. These arguments are used to explain some features of the spectrum of solid anthracene—PMDA.
