French Brain Tumor Data Bank (FBTDB): Main results on 23,648 cases.

Abstract

e12536 Background: The objectives of the FBTDB are to create a national histologic registry and a network in order to perform epidemiologic studies, to implement a new database, to perform clinical and basic research protocols, and to harmonize the healthcare of patients affected by primary central nervous system tumor (PCNST). Methods: The French societies involved in Neuro-Oncology (Societe Francaise de Neuropathologie, Association des Neuro-Oncologues d'Expression Francaise, Societe Francaise de Neurochirurgie) have recently created the FBTDB. For each patients with histologically confirmed PCNST, the neurosurgeon and the neuropathologist fulfill an easy data file containing socio-demographic, clinical, radiologic and anatomopathologic information. Results: In 5 years, 23,648 cases of newly diagnosed PCNST have been recorded. Histologic diagnoses included glioma 47.8%, all other neuroepithelial tumors 4.8%, meningioma 29.3%, neurinoma 7.6%, lymphoma 3.1% and others 7.4%. Cryopreservation was reported f...
