Abstract

Time travel raises a number of puzzles that challenge our ordinary ways of thinking about time, causation, and identity. This chapter focuses on one of the most famous paradoxes of time travel – the grandfather paradox – and its implications for the topic of freedom. In particular, we look at what the grandfather paradox might have to teach us about the doctrine of fatalism, the nature of ability, and the extent of human freedom.
