Abstract
Free vibration analysis of isotropic and laminated composite plates on elastic point supports has been done using a nine node isoparametric plate bending element, and the Mindlin’s First-Order Shear Deformation Theory (FSDT) is incorporated to formulate the finite element. The elastic springs are arranged at various points under the plate. Results are obtained for plate with different aspect ratios, thickness ratios, fibre angle orientation and boundary conditions. The present finite element results are compared with established results, and some new results have been presented, which will be useful for further research in this field.
