Abstract

Research Article| April 01 2019 Free Soil, Free Labor, Free Men: The Origins of the Republican Party in DuPage County, Illinois Stephen J. Buck Stephen J. Buck Stephen J. Buck earned his Ph.D. from Northern Illinois University in 1992 under the direction of Otto Olsen. Buck is a professor of history at Joliet Junior College where he has taught for the past twenty-one years. He is author of several articles on DuPage County history during the Jacksonian, Civil War, and Reconstruction periods. He is currently working on a study of the impact of World War I in DuPage County.
