Abstract

Nucleolar stress has been consistently linked to age-related diseases. In this issue, Sirozh etal.1 find that the common molecular signature of nucleolar stress is the accumulation of free ribosomal proteins, which leads to premature aging in mice; however, it can be reversed by mTOR inhibition.
