Abstract

Background:Bipolar and Unipolar depression are associated with increased impulsivity during illness episodes. There is little information about impulsivity during euthymia in these mood disorders.Aim:To illustrate difference in impulsivity in euthymic bipolar and unipolar depression.Methods:Study setting: The study was conducted in outpatient department of psychiatry, tertiary care centre.Sample size: 6020 Euthymic Bipolar depressive patients20 Euthymic Unipolar depressive patients20 Healthy VolunteersStudy Design: Comparative – Cross Sectional Study.Study period: June to September 2021Scales: Barratt impulsiveness Scale (Revised), General health questionnaire.Results:Euthymic Bipolar disorder has scored higher on motor impulsivity and Unipolar Depression scored higher on non-planning impulsivity.Conclusion:Increased impulsivity for both Euthymic Bipolar disorders and unipolar depression compared to healthy volunteers. Bipolar disorder scored higher on motor impulsivity than unipolar depression.
