Abstract

An approximate analysis of the effects of the free convection currents on the flow of an elastoviscous fluid (Walters liquid B') past an infinite vertical plate started impulsively in the vertical direction has been carried out. Approximate solutions are derived by the Laplace-transform technique. It is observed that the velocity and the skin-friction increase due to greater cooling of the plate by the free convection currents whereas they decrease due to greater heating of the plate by the free convection currents.
