Abstract

We are often looking for ways to improve performance in our departments. Whether we are in hospital-based practices or own or manage outpatient facilities, finding ways to grow and excel is usually of great interest. Within the space of 6 weeks, I saw an interview with author Fred Lee in HealthLeaders magazine; received an announcement on an upcoming seminar sponsored by Executive Women in Healthcare at which the main seminar would be run by Lee, based on his book, If Disney Ran Your Hospital: 9 1/2 Things You Would Do Differently; and saw a flyer reporting this book to be the 2005 book of the year of the American College of Healthcare Executives. I knew that it was a book I wanted to explore.
