Abstract
Fraunhofer diffraction by a slit on an opaque screen between vacuum and a nonmagnetic dielectric medium in the presence of magneto-optical activity induced in the medium by an external magnetic field is considered. A number of features of the diffraction pattern are revealed for different directions of an external magnetic field that induces magneto-optical activity (Faraday magneto-optical effect).
