Abstract

Abstract Nancy Fraser is an American philosopher and political theorist known for her pivotal role in second‐wave feminism, widely followed engagements with well‐known European and American thinkers, and important contributions to theories of justice, critical theory, and the critique of capitalism. She received a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Bryn Mawr College and completed her PhD in philosophy at the City University of New York. She has held academic positions in philosophy at the University of Georgia and Northwestern University, and in political science at the New School for Social Research, as well as a wide range of distinguished visiting appointments in the United States and Europe. Her influence has been felt well beyond the bounds of these fields, however, in the broad interdisciplinary currents that connect many of the humanities and social sciences.
